In the studio for the weekend when my newsfeed showcased Lenny Kravitz Tiny Desk Concert. I hold a special place in my heart for a man that can openly love God and rock that hard, so (obviously) I cranked it up!
I have been painting about this theme since the early 1990s when I lived in the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle. My house was across the street from the Home of the Good Shepard (now called Meridian Park) which used to be a home for wayward girls. My photographer friend, Eric Keller, and I spent afternoons shooting hoops and waxing philosophically about grunge music in that oasis. Life was gigantic! I was thriving in my career as a graphic designer and grateful that my paintings we getting attention too. My friend, Tom Bowen, had arranged for me to exhibit my paintings at his architectural firm’s office, Malhum Architects.
